MILBOX-ORNX-NANO4 Overview
Small unmanned systems carry strict limits on weight and power, yet the payload still needs a computer that can run vision models next to the camera. The MILBOX-ORNX-NANO4 is the entry rugged military computer in the Forecr MILBOX-ORNX series, pairing an NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano 4GB module with a sealed 1.9 kg enclosure that fits drone, UAV and sensor pod payloads.
The Jetson Orin Nano 4GB carries 4GB of LPDDR5 memory, and the datasheet lists Super Mode support for the Orin Nano family under JetPack. That suits a single detection or classification model, telemetry processing and lightweight sensor fusion on one camera stream. The MILBOX-ORNX-NANO4 supports Ubuntu 20.04 or 22.04 with JetPack 5.x or 6.x, the same base as the Orin NX builds, so applications can move between modules in the range.
On the MILBOX-ORNX-NANO4, I/O covers two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 3.0 ports, two RS-232/422/485 ports, an RS-232 debug port, two CAN bus ports and one HDMI output. M.2 Key-M 2280 and 2230 sockets take NVMe storage, and an M.2 Key-B socket with a SIM slot accepts LTE or 5G modules, convertible to Key-E for WiFi and Bluetooth. A camera expansion connector links the module’s CSI interfaces to an adapter board, and four HD-BNC coax connectors on the rear take Forecr’s optional 4x GMSL2 camera inputs. Power comes from a 9-40 VDC input with 28 VDC nominal and a military-grade filter stage.
Forecr built this rugged military computer for defence, aerospace, drone and autonomous vehicle work. The 180.5 x 131 x 111 mm enclosure is designed to meet MIL-STD-461G, MIL-STD-1275E, MIL-STD-704F, DO-160G and IP67, with a datasheet ambient range of -25°C to +85°C. Where a payload needs more memory on the same carrier, the MILBOX-ORNX-NANO8 doubles it to 8GB.

Official Forecr UK Distributor
Things Embedded is an official Forecr UK distributor, and the MILBOX-ORNX-NANO4 is the entry build of Forecr's compact military computer, sharing the full I/O and IP67 enclosure of the Orin NX models. The MILBOX-AGX moves to Jetson AGX Orin for heavier inference in a larger enclosure, and the DSBOX-ORNX offers Orin NX and Orin Nano modules in an industrial format for fixed installations. For railway installations, the RAIBOX-ORNX is built around the Orin NX module.
Across our catalogue, the MILBOX-ORNX-NANO4 is grouped with other Jetson Orin Nano computers for buyers who choose by module, and with our mission computers alongside sealed systems for defence and aerospace programmes. Its enclosure is designed to meet IP67, so it also appears among our IP67 computers, where its 1.9 kg weight and wide DC input suit small drones, sensor pods and outdoor posts. The same carrier also accepts LTE or 5G modules through its M.2 Key-B socket and SIM slot.
