Stereolabs ZED-X-MINI-WIDE-POL (ZED-311220) Global Shutter 3D Depth Camera with Wide 2.2 mm Lenses, Polarizer and IP67 Enclosure

Harvesting and handling robots outdoors work close to their targets, often in bright sun on shiny, wet surfaces such as fruit, leaves and plastic crates. The Stereolabs ZED-X-MINI-WIDE-POL is the close-range outdoor build of the ZED-X-MINI series, with a built-in polarizer over 2.2 mm lenses on a 5 cm baseline for picking arms, field robots and small machines working near water or glass.

Stereolabs states the polarizer minimises glare and reflections while enhancing colour depth, which helps the depth engine where a reflective surface would otherwise leave a gap. The lenses cover up to 110° horizontally and 120° diagonally, and depth runs from 0.1 m to 8 m, ideal to 4 m, with accuracy within 1.6% at 2 m. Two 1/2.6″ 2.3MP global-shutter sensors output 1920 x 1200 at 60 fps or 960 x 600 at 120 fps, so an arm moving through foliage stays sharp. The ZED-X-MINI-WIDE-POL also carries a 200 Hz IMU for positional tracking.

GMSL2 carries video and power over a single coax with a lockable FAKRA Z connector, up to 15 m, at a typical 1.46 W. Hosts are NVIDIA Jetson Orin and Xavier modules on Jetson Linux, and a ZED-LINK-DUO card takes up to four cameras on Jetson Orin with hardware sync within 100 µs. The ZED-X-MINI-WIDE is this camera without the polarizer, and the ZED-X-MINI-NARROW-POL keeps the polarizer with 4.6 mm lenses for depth to 12 m.

The IP67-rated aluminium body runs from -20 °C to 60 °C at up to 90% humidity at 40 °C, and is rated for 2g RMS vibration from 3 to 500 Hz. A 1/4″-20 thread, 2x M3 holes and 4x M4 rear holes suit grippers, gantries and the optional tiltable mount. We supply it tested on a Jetson Orin host with JetPack, the ZED SDK and the GMSL2 capture path configured, with optional FAKRA cables to suit the arm or mast.
