HDMI to SDI Genlock Overview
HDMI sources such as presenter laptops, graphics machines and compact cameras rarely run in time with a broadcast facility. Without a synchroniser, a vision mixer may show a glitch on every cut. The Yuan HDMI to SDI Genlock is an HDMI to SDI converter with a frame synchroniser that locks the output to house reference.
Input is one HDMI connection accepting 1920x1080p at 60/50 and 30/25/24 fps, 1080i, 720p, SD and VESA PC formats from 640×480 to 1280×1024, plus a REF input for black burst and tri-level sync. Outputs are two SDI connections, up/down converted to 1080p 60/50, HD-SDI at 1080p 30/25/24, 1080i and 720p, and SD-SDI at 480i and 576i. Frame lock modes are free-run and external sync. Built-in interlacer, de-interlacer and 60 to 59.94 fps conversion are included. HDMI audio of up to eight channels is embedded at 24-bit, 48 kHz.
The HDMI to SDI Genlock runs from a 7.5 to 15 V DC input. If house sync is not needed, the HDMI to SDI-S scales HDMI to two SDI outputs with an OSD menu. For SDI sources, the SDI to SDI Genlock applies the same frame synchroniser to an SDI input.
Yuan publishes no operating temperature or certification for this converter, so plan for an equipment rack. Send us the formats, frame rates and cable runs on your system and we can check this converter fits, then pair it with Yuan capture cards where the signal also needs recording or streaming.
