UB579G HDMI2.0 Overview
Many recording and streaming setups only need clean 4K60 HDMI capture, but still want the option of high frame rate modes for motion or screen analysis. The UB579G HDMI2.0 is Yuan’s USB HDMI frame grabber for HDMI 2.0, taking 4K60 and 1080p240 from one input and passing the signal on through a loop-through output. It is a good fit for desktop and portable capture where the host only offers USB, such as laptops, small form factor PCs and all-in-one systems.
The input accepts 3840 x 2160 at 60/50 fps and 1920 x 1080 at 240/200 fps, with 422 10-bit and 444 8-bit HDR. Over USB 3.0 the frame grabber outputs MJPEG at 4K60/50, NV12, I420 and MJPEG at 4K30, 1440p60 and 1080p120, and every listed format, including YUY2, P010 and RGB24, at 1080p60 and below. Audio comes from HDMI embedded audio or an analogue stereo input at 16-bit, 48 kHz.
The host link is USB 3.0 Type-B as a UVC device. Yuan describes its compression as software, real-time mode, with no hardware encoder on board. In the same USB range, the UB576G HDMI2.0 HDR HID adds 1440p144 input and keyboard and mouse transfer to the target PC, and the PD576 HDMI20 HDR is a smaller USB Type-C unit with keyboard and mouse transfer but no loop-through output.
Yuan lists Windows, Linux and macOS support, so the same frame grabber can move between Windows and Linux workstations. We supply the UB579G HDMI2.0 tested with the host computer it will run on, with drivers and capture software installed, so it is ready to record when it arrives.
