Some rugged systems run more than one job on the same computer: a mission application, a video pipeline and a logging service, each with its own memory demands. The GEM-1185G7E-64G is the 64 GB Tiger Lake build in the Diamond Systems GEMINI series, a PCI/104-Express SBC that pairs the GEMINI carrier with an 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1185G7E COM Express Compact Type 6 module and a conduction-cooling heat spreader.

With 64 GB of DDR4 on the installed module, the GEM-1185G7E-64G has room for several concurrent applications or virtual machines. The module mounts on the underside of the carrier, above a heat spreader that serves as both mounting base and cooling surface, and because it follows the COM Express standard a later module can replace it without redesigning the stack. Graphics reach two HDMI outputs up to 4096 x 2304 at 60 Hz and dual-channel 24-bit LVDS up to 1920 x 1200, for up to three independent displays.

The carrier provides two Gigabit Ethernet ports, one from the module and one on an Intel I210, four USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports, four RS-232/422/485 ports, HDA audio, eight programmable digital I/O lines and an Infineon TPM 2.0. Storage is an M.2 2242 SATA socket for up to 512 GB and a standard SATA connector. Expansion covers PCI-104 for up to four modules, PCIe/104 Type 1 with up to four PCIe x1 links and a full-size MiniCard socket. The GEM-1185G7E-32G is the same build with 32 GB, and the GEM-BB01 is the carrier alone.

Input is 16 to 34 V DC. Diamond rates the GEM-1185G7E-64G for -40 to 85 °C operation, with the final range depending on the installed COM, and latching I/O connectors add resistance to shock and vibration in vehicles. The M.2 socket takes SLC, MLC or TLC flashdisks, so storage endurance can match the workload, and Windows 10 64-bit and Ubuntu Linux 64-bit are supported.
