Diamond Systems GEMINI : GEM-1185G7E-32G Wide Temperature PCI/104-Express SBC with COM Express Type 6 Intel Core i7 Tiger Lake

Rugged systems built on PC/104 stacks sometimes need far more compute than a traditional PC/104 SBC offers, without giving up the PCI-104 and PCIe/104 modules already in the design. The GEM-1185G7E-32G is the 32 GB Tiger Lake build in the Diamond Systems GEMINI series: a PCI/104-Express SBC that combines the GEMINI carrier with an 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1185G7E COM Express Compact Type 6 module and a conduction-cooling heat spreader.

The Core i7-1185G7E module carries 32 GB of DDR4 and mounts on the underside of the carrier, with the heat spreader below it serving as both mounting base and cooling surface. Graphics reach two HDMI outputs up to 4096 x 2304 at 60 Hz and dual-channel 24-bit LVDS up to 1920 x 1200 with backlight power, for up to three independent displays. An Infineon SLB 9670 TPM 2.0 sits on the carrier.

The carrier provides two Gigabit Ethernet ports, one from the module and one on an Intel I210, four USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports, four RS-232/422/485 ports, HDA audio and eight programmable digital I/O lines at 3.3 V logic. Storage is an M.2 2242 SATA socket for up to 512 GB plus a standard SATA connector. Expansion covers PCI-104 for up to four modules, PCIe/104 Type 1 with up to four PCIe x1 links and a full-size PCIe/USB MiniCard socket. The GEM-1185G7E-64G doubles the memory to 64 GB, and the GEM-BB01 is the carrier alone for teams that fit their own COM.

Input is 16 to 34 V DC. The GEM-1185G7E-32G is rated -40 to 85 °C, with Diamond noting that the final system range depends on the installed COM, and latching I/O connectors add resistance to shock and vibration. Because the processor sits on a standard COM Express module, a later module can replace it without redesigning the rest of the stack. Diamond supports Windows 10 64-bit and Ubuntu Linux 64-bit.
