Diamond Systems ZIGGYBOX NVIDIA Jetson TX2 and TX2i Extended Temperature Rugged Mini PCs

The Diamond Systems ZIGGYBOX series is a family of rugged mini PCs built on NVIDIA Jetson TX2 and TX2i modules and Diamond's Ziggy carrier board. Each miniature unit offers Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, USB 3.0, two RS-232 ports and a built-in data acquisition circuit with analog and digital I/O, rated from -40 to +85 °C. The ZIGGYBOX series suits test, laboratory, machine monitoring and embedded vision deployments.

  • NVIDIA Jetson TX2 or TX2i: Each rugged mini PC runs a Jetson TX2 or TX2i with a Pascal GPU, 8 GB of memory and 32 GB of flash.
  • Built-In Data Acquisition: Six 12-bit analog inputs at up to 1 Msps, two 12-bit analog outputs and twelve digital I/O lines at 3.3 V.
  • Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI and USB: One GbE port, HDMI, one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 Type A port, plus a micro USB OTG port.
  • Miniature Fanless Enclosure: An integrated heat sink cools the module with no fan, and a DIN bracket is included for cabinet mounting.
  • -40 to +85 °C Operation: The datasheet rates the series from -40 to +85 °C, which suits unheated enclosures and outdoor test equipment.

ZIGGYBOX Description

Small AI and machine learning projects often need to read real-world signals as well as run a model, which usually means a separate data acquisition board next to the computer. Diamond Systems built the ZIGGYBOX series of rugged mini PCs to do both in one enclosure. Each ZIGGYBOX houses an NVIDIA Jetson TX2 or TX2i module and Diamond’s Ziggy carrier board in a miniature enclosure, cooled by an integrated heat sink with no fan and fitted with a DIN rail bracket.

The Jetson TX2 family pairs an Arm CPU complex with an NVIDIA Pascal GPU, and both ZIGGYBOX models carry 8 GB of memory and 32 GB of flash with a built-in Linux OS. The Ziggy carrier adds a full data acquisition circuit: six 12-bit analog inputs at up to 1 Msps over a 0-3.3 V range, two 12-bit analog outputs and twelve 3.3 V digital I/O lines. Diamond’s data acquisition driver software includes a programming library with demos and an interactive control program for real-time access. The analog inputs suit sensors, temperature controls and process signals, while the digital lines handle keypads, switches and simple machine control.

The two ZIGGYBOX models differ by module. The ZIGBOX-20-HD uses the Jetson TX2, adds Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and accepts 9-15 V DC. The ZIGBOX-21-HD uses the Jetson TX2i, the industrial version of the module, and accepts 9-19 V DC for installations that need the industrial module and a wider supply range.

Every ZIGGYBOX provides one Gigabit Ethernet port on RJ-45, one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 Type A port, a micro USB OTG port, HDMI and two RS-232 ports, with a 4-lane CSI camera connection on the carrier. Diamond rates the series from -40 to +85 °C. Typical installs include test benches, laboratory instruments, machine condition monitoring and embedded vision, where a rugged mini PC with built-in analog and digital I/O saves a second board. Table-top and DIN rail mounting mean the same unit can move from a lab bench into a cabinet without a new bracket, and the built-in Linux OS means it is ready to run on delivery.

Official Diamond Systems UK Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Diamond Systems UK distributor, supplying the ZIGGYBOX range with the Jetson module and Linux installed and the data acquisition software ready to use. For newer Nano-size modules in a small DIN rail box, the JETBOX FLOYD-SC takes Jetson Nano, TX2 NX and Xavier NX, and the JETBOX-FLOYD adds PoE+ and three CSI camera ports for Nano and Xavier NX. Both keep a fanless design and Diamond's JetPack-based Linux, with more current Jetson modules than the TX2 generation.

Across our range, the ZIGGYBOX series sits with our rugged mini PCs and our Jetson TX2 computers, where a very small footprint and fanless cooling are the deciding requirements. Its built-in analog and digital I/O and -40 to +85 °C rating also place it among our wide temperature computers for test and monitoring work. For test benches and labs, the built-in data acquisition circuit can remove the need for a separate I/O board.
