What Is Cold Chain Monitoring?

Cold chain monitoring tracks the temperature of chilled and frozen goods, such as food and medicines, as they are stored, transported and displayed. Sensors record conditions continuously, and a monitoring system raises an alarm when a reading goes out of range and keeps a record that shows the goods stayed safe all the way to the shelf.

The Short Answer

A break anywhere in the chain, a fridge left open, a failed compressor or a delayed delivery, can spoil stock or make it unsafe. Continuous monitoring catches problems while there is still time to act, and the records support food safety checks and HACCP plans without staff writing readings down by hand.

Why It Matters

Our remote temperature monitoring FAQ covers the technology, and the supermarket HMI case study shows refrigeration monitored and controlled from a 10 inch touch screen gateway. See our work in food and beverage.
