The Short Answer
Normal remote access goes through the computer’s own operating system, so when that fails, the device is unreachable. Out-of-band management adds an independent path, usually dedicated hardware with its own connection, that keeps working when the main system does not.

Why It Matters
For computers on vehicles or at remote sites, OOB turns a call-out into a remote fix. Our smart factory case study uses Allxon out-of-band management, and our Allxon out-of-band guide explains how it works.
