Neousys MezIO-U4-30 4-Port USB 3.1 MezIO Module for POC-600 and POC-700

Compact computers tend to run out of USB ports first. A barcode scanner, a USB camera, a licence dongle and a storage device can fill the built-in ports before the project is finished, and an external hub is one more thing to mount and power. The MezIO-U4-30 is part of the Neousys MezIO-U4 series of four-port USB 3.1 MezIO modules, in the version built for the compact POC computers.

It adds four USB 3.1 Type-A ports, compatible with USB 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0 devices, with up to 900 mA per port. Two Renesas uPD720202 host controllers each serve a pair of ports, and 5 Gbps is shared by the two ports on each controller. That suits scanners, keyboards, dongles and cameras that do not all stream at full rate at once. Where every port needs its own 5 Gbps, the MezIO-U4-50 uses four controllers, one per port, on the Nuvo computers.

We fit the MezIO-U4-30 inside the Neousys system on its high-speed board-to-board connector with three-point mezzanine mounting, then configure and test the ports before the system ships. Each system has one MezIO interface. The MezIO-U4-30 fits the POC-700, POC-700-FT and POC-600 compact computers.

Because the single MezIO interface can take only one module, it helps to decide early whether the system needs USB, storage or I/O. If a second 2.5-inch drive matters more than extra USB ports, the MezIO-R11 fits the same POC computers. Send us the list of USB devices and we can check port count and current before we build.
