Diamond Systems JASPER : JSP-BB01D COM Express Carrier Board for Type 6 Modules with 18 to 36 V DC Input

Choosing a COM Express module separately from the carrier lets a design team pick the processor, source a second module if supply tightens and upgrade later without a redesign. The JSP-BB01D is the low cost carrier in the Diamond Systems JASPER series: a rugged COM Express carrier board for Type 6 Basic and Compact modules, supplied without a module.

Processing, memory and graphics come from the module you install. The carrier brings out two HDMI outputs, dual-channel 24-bit LVDS and VGA, and a Gigabit Ethernet port from the COM. The COM mounts on the underside of the carrier with its heat spreader facing the enclosure, framed by an integrated mounting plate, so heat passes straight into the chassis rather than into the air inside it.

The block diagram shows three USB 3.0/2.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, RS-232 from the COM’s UART ports on the utility connector, four general-purpose inputs and four outputs at 3.3 V, an M.2 SATA socket, a 7-pin SATA connector and two PCIe MiniCard sockets, one with a nano SIM. The second Gigabit port, the multiprotocol serial ports, audio, data acquisition and PCIe/104 are marked as model-dependent, and the JSP-BB02D and JSP-BB03A are the carriers that list PCIe/104, so we confirm the exact I/O with you before ordering.

Input is 18 to 36 V DC. Operation is rated -40 to 85 °C depending on the installed COM, with the carrier components rated or tested for that range. Positive-latching connectors in a single row along the front edge resist shock and vibration, and the single row also allows a plug-in I/O connector board in place of cables. The JSP-BB01D uses the 3.5 inch form factor. The JSP-BB01D is sold with a minimum order quantity.
