Diamond Systems JUPITER-MM-7500 80 W Rugged DC/DC Power Supplies for Embedded and Military Systems

On military and aerospace programmes, a spike, surge or brownout on the vehicle bus that reaches the electronics can take a mission system down. The Diamond Systems JUPITER-MM-7500 series puts 80 W of isolated DC/DC conversion between that bus and the computer, with the filtering and conditioning stages defence integrators would otherwise build themselves. These are isolated DC/DC power supplies designed for rugged computer systems rather than bench or commercial use.

Each JUPITER-MM-7500 supply is built from modules that Diamond can include, omit or swap to suit an application: an input EMI filter designed to MIL-STD-461 requirements, a pre-regulator designed to MIL-STD-704 and MIL-STD-1275 requirements, and an isolated power converter. Diamond lists compliance with MIL-STD-461 revisions D to F, MIL-STD-704A/D/E/F, MIL-STD-1275A to E and DO-160 revisions C to G, though compliance of the finished system always depends on the full installation. Heat leaves through a conduction cooling plate with integrated thermal pads that transfers it into the enclosure wall, so the supply can mount beside the processor board or on the opposite wall. Heavy components are fixed with epoxy or cable ties, connectors are rated for high current and latch positively, and every component is rated for -40 to 85 °C.

The series has two isolated models on our site. The JMM-7515-IF gives 15 V at 5.33 A, the output Diamond chose as standard because it suits the widest range of its computer boards. The JMM-7512-IF gives 12 V at 6.66 A for boards and Jetson carriers that take 12 V. Diamond’s ordering information lists a 9 to 36 V DC input for both, and it can configure 5 V and 24 V outputs, or a non-isolated build with more output power, on request.

Typical JUPITER-MM-7500 installations are tracked and wheeled military vehicles, airborne mission electronics, naval consoles and rugged test equipment, wherever a PC/104 board stack sits on a noisy DC bus. PC/104 mounting holes let the supply join the stack mechanically, and the 80 W budget covers an SBC with I/O modules or a Jetson carrier board with peripherals.
