Diamond Systems JUPITER-MM-7500 : JMM-7512-IF 80W 12V DC/DC Rugged Isolated Power Supply with MIL-STD-461/704/1275

Military vehicles and aircraft hand their electronics a DC bus full of spikes, surges and conducted noise, and the supply between that bus and the computer has to absorb it. The JMM-7512-IF is the 12 V isolated model in the Diamond Systems JUPITER-MM-7500 series, an 80 W isolated DC/DC power supply for rugged computer systems whose boards run from 12 V.

Diamond builds the JMM-7500 from separate stages: an input EMI filter designed to MIL-STD-461 requirements, a pre-regulator designed to MIL-STD-704 and MIL-STD-1275 requirements, and an isolated power converter. Diamond lists compliance with MIL-STD-461 revisions D to F, MIL-STD-704A/D/E/F, MIL-STD-1275A to E and DO-160 revisions C to G, though compliance of the finished system still depends on the whole installation. Input-to-output isolation can help keep bus noise and ground faults away from the electronics.

Output is a single 12 V rail at up to 6.66 A, and Diamond’s ordering information lists a 9 to 36 V DC input for this model. Input and output connectors are rated for high current and latch positively. For boards that want 15 V, the JMM-7515-IF is the same supply with a 15 V output, and where a PC/104 stack needs ride-through during power interruptions, the JMM-7312-ISO-UPS adds a supercapacitor UPS input at 40 W.

All components are rated for -40 to 85 °C. A conduction cooling plate with integrated thermal pads moves heat directly into the enclosure wall, so the supply can sit beside the processor board or on the opposite wall. Heavy components are fixed with epoxy or cable ties to withstand shock and vibration, and PC/104 mounting holes let the JMM-7512-IF join a PC/104 board stack.
