Diamond Systems STEVIE NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier Industrial Carrier Boards with Serial, CAN and NVMe

An AGX Xavier design that reads sensors, talks to PLCs and runs cameras usually ends up as a stack of boards: a carrier, a data acquisition card and a serial card. The Diamond Systems STEVIE series puts that I/O on one industrial carrier board that is only slightly larger than the AGX Xavier module itself.

Each STEVIE board places the most-used connectors along the front edge with commercial-style panel I/O, so it can mount behind an enclosure panel with fewer internal cables. The AGX Xavier module mounts underneath; the 32GB module gives up to 32 TOPS from a 512-core Volta GPU and an 8-core Arm CPU. A camera connector with 4x 4 CSI-2 lanes takes four 4-lane or up to eight 2-lane cameras through an adapter board. Storage and expansion are shared across the range: an M.2 2280 NVMe socket on four PCIe lanes, a UFS flash and microSD socket and a full-size Mini PCIe socket with PCIe and USB.

The range has six models, three boards each offered bare or with the AGX Xavier 32GB module installed and programmed with Linux. The STV-BB01 and STV-AGX32-01 are the full-feature model, with two GbE ports, four RS-232/422/485 ports and a microcontroller for six 12-bit ADC inputs, two 12-bit DAC outputs and 13 GPIO. The STV-BB02 and STV-AGX32-02 keep the serial ports and data acquisition with one GbE port. The STV-BB03 and STV-AGX32-03 are the economy model, with one GbE port on a lower-height jack, two serial ports and 16 GPIO through an I2C expander instead of the ADC and DAC.

Every STEVIE board has two USB 3.1 and two USB 2.0 ports, two HDMI outputs, two CAN ports and audio, takes 9-20 V DC and carries a -40 to +85 °C rating from Diamond; with a module fitted, the AGX Xavier module’s -25 to +80 °C rating applies. Diamond supplies a free C library and a GUI control panel with data logging for the STEVIE data acquisition circuit, and the CK-STV-01 cable kit covers the pin-header I/O. These carrier boards suit machine vision cells, robotics, test rigs and process monitoring where analogue and serial signals sit next to the cameras.
