ASRock Industrial iEP-5000G Intel Atom x6425RE Elkhart Lake Fanless Edge Gateways with DIN Mount

Most data at the edge of a plant starts small: a few serial devices, digital signals and Ethernet-connected machines that need collecting, translating and passing upstream. That work rarely needs a Core i7, but it does need a computer that copes with an unheated cabinet and runs for years without a fan. The ASRock Industrial iEP-5000G series covers that ground with Edge Gateways on the Intel Atom x6425RE, rated down to -40 °C and small enough at 58 x 125 x 157 mm to sit on a DIN rail beside the equipment.

ASRock Industrial uses the same board across the range. The quad-core Atom x6425RE runs at 1.9 GHz within 12 W, with two DDR4 3200 SO-DIMM sockets for up to 32 GB with In-Band ECC and HDMI 2.0b plus VGA outputs. Three GbE ports on MaxLinear GPY215 controllers, three RS-232/422/485 ports, 4 DI/4 DO on a 9-pin D-sub, two USB 3.2 Gen1 and two USB 2.0 ports handle field connections. An M.2 2280 Key M socket in PCIe or SATA mode and a microSD slot take storage, an M.2 Key E socket takes Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, and Intel TCC and TSN support under Linux adds real-time networking.

The iEP-5000G-000 is the basic model on a DC jack for 6 to 36 V, supplied with a 65 W adapter, with an optional 2.5-inch SATA bay and an M.2 Key B socket for 4G LTE or 5G. The iEP-5000G-010 has the same I/O but takes 6 to 36 V through a Phoenix-type terminal block for cabinet wiring. The iEP-5000G-001 adds two Intel I210-AT ports with IEEE 802.3af PoE on a 19 to 36 V input, and the iEP-5000G-002 has five LAN ports without PoE for multi-network sites.

Typical uses include machine and energy data collection, protocol conversion between serial and Ethernet devices, and remote cabinets where 4G or 5G is the only link. The basic and five-LAN models operate from -40 °C to 70 °C and the PoE model from -40 °C to 50 °C, all rated with 0.5 to 0.8 m/s airflow and stored from -40 °C to 85 °C. All four iEP-5000G Edge Gateways carry 80 V surge protection, 5 Grms vibration and 100 G shock ratings, TPM 2.0 and CE and FCC Class A compliance, and run Windows 10 or Linux.
