ASRock Industrial iEP-5000G-002 Intel Atom x6425RE Extended Temperature Edge Gateway with 5x GbE LAN

Where several machines each bring their own network into one cabinet, a gateway with two or three ports soon runs out. The ASRock Industrial iEP-5000G-002 gives a fanless edge gateway five GbE ports, so each machine network, the plant LAN and a maintenance link can have a port of its own. It is the five-LAN model in the iEP-5000G series.

ASRock Industrial fits the quad-core Intel Atom x6425RE at 1.9 GHz within 12 W, with two DDR4 3200 SO-DIMM sockets for up to 32 GB with In-Band ECC and HDMI 2.0b plus VGA outputs. Intel TCC and TSN support under Linux suits time-sensitive traffic between the networks, and Windows 10 and Linux are both supported.

The five ports on the iEP-5000G-002 are three GbE ports on MaxLinear GPY215 controllers and two Intel I210-AT ports, none of which supply PoE. Three RS-232/422/485 ports, 4 DI/4 DO on a 9-pin D-sub, two USB 3.2 Gen1 and two USB 2.0 ports cover other field devices. Storage is an M.2 2280 Key M socket in PCIe or SATA mode plus microSD, and an M.2 Key E socket takes a Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 module. This model has no 2.5-inch bay or cellular option.

This edge gateway measures 58 x 125 x 157 mm and mounts on a DIN rail or a wall. It operates from -40 °C to 70 °C with 0.5 to 0.8 m/s airflow, is rated for 5 Grms vibration and 100 G shock with an SSD, and meets CE and FCC Class A. The iEP-5000G-002 suits cabinets that need more ports rather than powered ones, and the iEP-5000G-001 adds PoE to two of its ports.
