ZED-X-NANO Overview
A head-mounted camera on a humanoid or a fixed camera above a cell often loses sight of an object at the moment of grasp, when the hand itself blocks the view. Wrist mounting solves that, but only with a camera small enough to fit and focused close enough to help. The Stereolabs ZED-X-NANO is that close-range stereo camera, built for humanoid wrists, robotic grippers, pick-and-place cells and Physical AI work.
An 18 mm baseline sets depth from 0.03 m to 2 m, with an ideal range from 0.05 m to 1.5 m and accuracy within 0.2% at 5 cm and 1.2% at 1.5 m. The 2.8 mm f/2.5 lenses cover up to 92° horizontally and 102° diagonally with low distortion. Two 1/2.6″ 2.3MP global-shutter sensors output 1920 x 1200 or 1080p at 60 fps and 960 x 600 at 120 fps, free of the skew a rolling shutter shows on a moving hand. The ZED-X-NANO adds a vibration-resistant 200 Hz IMU, and the ZED SDK provides depth, point clouds, positional tracking, object detection to maximum depth and spatial mapping of close-range scenes.
The camera connects over GMSL2 through a lockable FAKRA Z connector, with video and power on one coax up to 15 m at a typical 1.46 W from a 5 to 20 V supply. Hosts are NVIDIA Jetson Thor and Jetson Orin on Jetson Linux. On an Orin Nano or Orin NX developer kit, a ZED-LINK-MONO card takes one camera and a ZED-LINK-DUO takes up to four, so a wrist camera can run alongside a ZED-X-WIDE for navigation.
The ZED-X-NANO operates from 0 °C to 50 °C at up to 90% humidity at 40 °C and is rated for 2g RMS vibration from 3 to 500 Hz, which suits indoor cells and labs. Fixing is a 1/4″-20 thread and 2x M3 holes underneath. It is listed for RoHS, REACH and TSCA compliance. We supply the ZED-X-NANO tested on a Jetson host with JetPack, the ZED SDK and GMSL2 capture configured, with optional FAKRA cables including right-angle types for tight wrist routing.
