Arestech PPC-N178R 17″ 5-Wire Resistive Industrial Panel PC with Intel Core i5-8265U and Front IP66 Aluminum Bezel

Machine operators often wear gloves, and a capacitive screen that ignores a gloved finger slows the job down. The PPC-N178R is the 5-wire resistive configuration on the Intel Core i5-8265U in the Arestech PPC-N178 series: a 17 inch fanless industrial panel PC with an aluminum front cover sealed to IP66.

The Intel Core i5-8265U is a quad-core processor running at up to 3.9 GHz, with two DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM sockets for up to 32 GB, plus an M.2 2280 socket with PCIe x4 or SATA and an internal 2.5-inch bay, with RAID 0 and 1 as an option. That suits SCADA and MES clients, dashboards and HMI software with several windows open, with operating system support for Windows 10 IoT or Professional and Linux. The display is a 350 nit SXGA LCD at 1280 x 1024 with a 800:1 contrast ratio and 160° horizontal and 140° vertical viewing angles. Resistive touch works by pressure, so it responds to work gloves and a stylus.

Connections include two GbE ports on Intel i219V and i211AT controllers, three RS-232 ports and one RS-232/422/485 port, four USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, an HDMI output for a second screen, line-out and mic-in and 8-bit digital I/O. A full-size Mini-PCIe socket with a SIM slot and an M.2 2230 E-key socket for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth take optional 4G and wireless modules. The PPC-N178P is the same build with projected capacitive touch.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a two-pin Phoenix terminal block, at 17.5 W typical. The PPC-N178R is fanless and operates from -20 °C to 60 °C at 5 to 95% humidity with extended-temperature memory and storage fitted. It is vibration-tested from 5 to 500 Hz at 2.16 Grms, shock-tested to 20 G under IEC 60068-2-27, carries CE and FCC Class A marks, measures 426 x 361 x 74 mm, weighs 4.86 kg and mounts in a 386 x 321 mm panel cut-out or on 75 x 75 and 100 x 100 mm VESA.
