ASRock Industrial iEP-5000G-010 Intel Atom x6425RE Extended Temperature Edge Gateway with 3x GbE and 6-36V Terminal Block

In a control cabinet, power usually arrives as a 12 V or 24 V DC feed on terminal rails, and a barrel plug is one more connection that can work loose under vibration. The ASRock Industrial iEP-5000G-010 takes its 6 to 36 V DC input through a pluggable Phoenix-type terminal block instead, and is otherwise the same fanless edge gateway as the basic model in the iEP-5000G series.

ASRock Industrial builds it around the quad-core Intel Atom x6425RE at 1.9 GHz within 12 W, with two DDR4 3200 SO-DIMM sockets for up to 32 GB with In-Band ECC and HDMI 2.0b plus VGA outputs. Intel TCC and TSN support under Linux suits time-sensitive data collection, and Windows 10 and Linux are both supported.

Field I/O on the iEP-5000G-010 is three GbE ports, three RS-232/422/485 ports, 4 DI/4 DO on a 9-pin D-sub, two USB 3.2 Gen1 and two USB 2.0 ports. Storage is an M.2 2280 Key M socket in PCIe or SATA mode, a microSD slot and an optional 2.5-inch SATA3 bay. An M.2 Key B socket with a nano SIM slot takes a 4G LTE module or an optional 5G module, and an M.2 Key E socket takes Wi-Fi 6E with Bluetooth 5.2. Unlike the iEP-5000G-000 it comes without an adapter, as the supply typically comes from the cabinet.

This edge gateway measures 58 x 125 x 157 mm and mounts on a DIN rail or a wall. It operates from -40 °C to 70 °C with 0.5 to 0.8 m/s airflow, is rated for 5 Grms vibration and 100 G shock with an SSD, and meets CE and FCC Class A. Where cameras need power from the gateway, the iEP-5000G-001 adds two PoE ports on a 19 to 36 V input.
