Avalue ACP-IMX6POS-B1R NXP i.MX 6Quad Arm SBC with 12 to 24 V DC Input, Dual GbE and Wide Temperature

An operator terminal on a production line or a ticket kiosk at a station entrance faces cold mornings, warm afternoons and power wiring that is rarely as tidy as a desk. The ACP-IMX6POS-B1R is the build in the Avalue ACP-IMX6POS-B1 series for those sites, an NXP i.MX 6Quad Arm SBC on a 175 x 110 mm board, rated from -20 to 85 °C and cooled by a passive heatsink.

The NXP i.MX 6Quad provides four Arm Cortex-A9 cores at 1 GHz, with 2 GB of DDR3L memory soldered to the board, 8 GB of eMMC and a microSD socket. That is enough in practice for a touch HMI, a data logger or a protocol gateway, and Avalue supplies the board with Yocto 2.5. A watchdog function can restart the application if it stalls, which saves a site visit on remote terminals.

Two GbE RJ45 ports, one from the i.MX6 MAC with a Micrel KSZ9031RNX PHY and one from an Intel I211 controller, let the board sit between a machine network and a plant network. HDMI, VGA and 24-bit dual-channel LVDS outputs drive any two displays together. Two DB9 ports carry RS-232/422/485 with RS-485 auto flow control, two internal headers carry RS-232 and a 16-bit GPIO header takes buttons, beacons and sensors. USB covers two Type-A ports, a Mini USB OTG port and three internal headers, with a microphone input, stereo speaker output and a full-size mPCIe slot with USB signals and a SIM socket for an optional wireless or cellular module.

Power is 12 to 24 V DC on a barrel connector or a 4-pin header, so a cabinet supply can be wired in directly. The ACP-IMX6POS-B1R carries CE and FCC compliance and handles 0 to 90% non-condensing humidity. It suits factory HMIs, outdoor kiosks, transport ticketing and signage in enclosures with wide temperature swings, where one quad-core build with dual GbE covers indoor and harsher sites.
