AL553-BN-N3350 Overview
Digital signage, queue displays and connected kiosks often sit where the only power is a shared 24 V rail and the only network is cellular. The AL553-BN-N3350 is the Intel Celeron N3350 build in the DFI AL553 series of 3.5″ SBCs, giving those installs the wide DC input, triple display and wireless options of the series on a 6 W processor.
The Celeron N3350 (Apollo Lake) runs two cores at 1.1 GHz and bursts to 2.4 GHz for content changes and page loads. One DDR3L 1866 MHz SO-DIMM slot takes up to 8 GB. Intel HD Graphics drives HDMI at up to 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz, VGA at up to 1920 x 1200 and dual-channel 24-bit LVDS at up to 1920 x 1200, so one board can run an internal panel and two external screens.
An M.2 E-key (2230) takes Wi-Fi and a full-size Mini PCIe socket with an optional SIM slot takes a cellular modem for content updates, while an M.2 B-key (2242) takes an SSD. Two GbE ports on Intel I210AT controllers, one RS-232/422/485 COM port and an 8-bit DIO connect local peripherals such as printers, sensors and lighting. USB is two USB 3.1 Gen 1 and two USB 2.0 Type-A ports and two USB 2.0 on headers, and Realtek ALC888S audio handles announcements.
The AL553-BN-N3350 runs from 9 to 36 V DC on a 4-pin or barrel connector, cooled by a fanless heatsink, and operates from 0 to 60 °C with CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance. For an embedded Atom at similar power, AL553-BN-E3930 is the dual-core alternative, and AL553-BN-E3950 doubles the cores for heavier applications.
