DFI CS181 Intel 8th and 9th Gen Core Industrial Mini-ITX Motherboards with H310 Chipset and Quad LAN

Multi-camera inspection, video walls and GPU-assisted vision often need a discrete graphics processor, but a full-height PCIe card makes the enclosure deeper and harder to cool. The DFI CS181 series is a Mini-ITX board of 170 x 170 mm with an MXM slot, so a GPU module lies flat on the board, and a socketed LGA1151 processor sets the CPU performance. The series has one build, CS181-H310NB.

The board takes 8th and 9th Gen Intel Core (Coffee Lake) i7, i5 and i3 processors in standard, T, E and TE versions, from four to eight cores, plus the two-core Pentium G5400 and Celeron G4900, at up to 65 W. It uses the Intel H310 chipset, with no Intel AMT or vPro. Two DDR4 2400/2666 MHz SO-DIMMs hold up to 64 GB. Intel UHD Graphics 630 (UHD 610 on Pentium and Celeron) handles HEVC, VP9 and H.264 in hardware and drives an internal eDP panel and a DP++ port at the rear, with 4K on both.

The MXM slot takes Type-A, B and B+ modules on PCIe x16 and brings four more DisplayPort outputs to the rear panel when a module is fitted. DFI lists MXM modules based on the NVIDIA Quadro P2000 and Quadro RTX 3000 as options, with a cooler for the RTX 3000. Four GbE ports, one on an Intel I219V and three on Intel I210AT controllers, give each camera or network segment its own port.

Four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports sit at the rear, with two USB 2.0 ports, two RS-232/422/485 ports selected in the BIOS and 8-bit DIO on internal headers. Storage runs to two SATA 3.0 ports, an M.2 M-key 2280 slot at PCIe x1 Gen2 and an M.2 B-key 3042/3052 slot for a SATA drive, while an M.2 E-key 2230 slot takes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Power arrives as 19 V DC on a barrel connector. The board operates from -5 to 65 °C and carries CE, FCC and RoHS compliance, with a TPM 2.0 as standard, a watchdog programmable from 1 to 255 seconds and Realtek ALC888S audio. DFI lists Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 64-bit, and offers thermal solutions for 35 W and 65 W processors.
