DFI ECX700-ASL2020A-X35 8-Core Intel Atom x7835RE Rugged Fanless PC with IP68 and Extended Temperature

On a construction or mining vehicle, the computer may handle CAN data, cameras and an operator screen at once, inside a housing that has to survive water jets, dust and a -40 °C start. The ECX700-ASL2020A-X35 is the eight-core build of the DFI ECX700-ASL series, a rugged fanless PC rated IP68 and IP69K, with 2.5GbE on M12 and CAN bus.

The Intel Atom x7835RE is an Amston Lake processor with eight cores at 1.3 to 3.6 GHz and a 12 W TDP, with Intel UHD graphics on one HDMI output. Memory is 16 GB of LPDDR5-4800 on board and storage is a 64 GB eMMC module designed for easy replacement. TPM 2.0 is included, and the ECX700-ASL2020A-X35 supports Windows 11 IoT Enterprise and Ubuntu 22.04, so several control or vision processes can run side by side.

Networking is two 2.5GbE ports from Intel i226 controllers on M12 connectors, and two USB 3.2 ports use sealed receptacles. Two RS-232 and two CAN bus ports share one sealed circular connector, with four CAN ports available as a project option. HDMI and the SIM slot sit on the front. An M.2 3042/3052 B key slot takes an optional LTE or 5G module, an M.2 2230 E key slot takes optional Wi-Fi, and an M.2 2242/2280 M key slot takes an NVMe or SATA SSD alongside the eMMC, so the ECX700-ASL2020A-X35 can carry both a boot image and a data drive.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on an M12 D-coded connector. The ECX700-ASL2020A-X35 runs fanless from -40 °C to 70 °C with 0.6 m/s airflow, the housing is rated IP68 and IP69K, and shock and vibration are tested to IEC 60068-2-27, IEC 60068-2-64 and MIL-STD-810H. DFI lists CE, FCC Class A and RoHS, and the unit wall mounts. It is a preliminary DFI product, available to order.
