HPT253-BCN-8845HS Overview
An inspection cell or edge analytics node often has to process several camera streams, run the line-side HMI and forward results upstream, all from a small board inside a control cabinet. The HPT253-BCN-8845HS is the eight-core, 45 W build in the DFI HPT253 series of 4″ x86 SBCs, putting AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processing on a 165 x 115 mm EPIC-size board.
Its AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS (Hawk Point) has eight cores at 3.8 GHz base with a 45 W TDP. Radeon 780M graphics with RDNA3 cores, the larger of the two GPUs in the series, handle video decode and display work alongside the processing load. Two DDR5 SO-DIMM sockets take up to 96 GB at 5600 MHz, which leaves room for image buffers and several applications, and a TPM 2.0 can support secure boot and disk encryption.
Two Intel I226V 2.5GbE ports and one Intel I210AT GbE port on RJ45 can put cameras, the plant network and an uplink on separate interfaces. Displays connect over HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 at up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz, a USB Type-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode and an internal dual-channel LVDS connector. Two RS-232/422/485 and two RS-232 ports on DB9 reach PLCs and drives, with 8-bit DIO selectable on COM4, and USB is two USB 3.2 and one USB 2.0 Type-A port plus two internal USB 2.0 headers. An M.2 M-key takes a PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD, a B-key with Nano SIM takes a 4G or 5G module and an E-key takes Wi-Fi.
The HPT253-BCN-8845HS runs from 9 to 36 V DC on a barrel connector or 4-pin connector and operates from 0 to 60 °C with an active fan cooler, with CE, FCC and RoHS compliance. For gateways and kiosks that need less processing at 28 W, see HPT253-BCN-8640U.
