DFI MTH253-BN-16U5125U Intel Core Ultra 5 125U 4″ Embedded Board with 9 to 36 V DC Input and Triple LAN

A protocol gateway or data logger in a panel usually runs around the clock on a small power budget, collecting from serial and Ethernet devices and forwarding to a historian or the cloud. It needs dependable I/O more than peak clock speed. The MTH253-BN-16U5125U is the entry fanless build in the DFI MTH253 series of 4″ embedded boards, bringing a 15 W Meteor Lake processor to that kind of always-on role.

Its Intel Core Ultra 5 125U runs 12 cores from 1.3 to 4.3 GHz within a 15 W TDP, with 12 MB of cache, and is cooled by a passive heatsink. Memory is 16 GB of LPDDR5/x soldered in dual channel, enough for containers, a local database and an OPC UA server. The integrated Intel graphics drive HDMI 1.4b, USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode and an internal dual-channel LVDS panel, so a local maintenance screen or small HMI can run on the same board.

Six COM ports (two RS-232/422/485 and two RS-232 on DB9, two RS-232 on internal headers) and 8-bit DIO on COM4 cover meters, drives and legacy controllers. Two 2.5GbE ports on Intel I226V and one GbE port on Intel I210AT separate field devices from the plant network and an uplink. Five USB 3.2 Type-A ports, an M.2 B-key with nano SIM for a 4G or 5G backhaul, an M.2 E-key for Wi-Fi, an M.2 M-key at PCIe Gen4 x4 for an NVMe SSD and a SATA 3.0 port complete the I/O.

The MTH253-BN-16U5125U runs from 9 to 36 V DC on a 4-pin or barrel connector and operates from -5 to 65 °C. It carries CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance, a TPM 2.0 and a watchdog timer. For higher clocks in the same fanless design, MTH253-BN-16U5155U steps up to the Core Ultra 7 155U; for Intel Arc graphics and 28 W headroom, MTH253-BN-16U5135H adds 14 cores with an active cooler.
