DFI MTH253-BN-32U7165H Intel Core Ultra 7 165H 4″ Embedded Board with 9 to 36 V DC Input and Triple LAN

Machine vision cells and inspection stations tend to collect cameras. What starts as one feed becomes four streams, each decoded, analyzed and recorded, with an HMI and a PLC link on the same computer. The MTH253-BN-32U7165H is the 16-core, 32 GB build in the DFI MTH253 series of 4″ embedded boards, sized for that kind of consolidation in an EPIC-size footprint of 165 x 115 mm.

Its Intel Core Ultra 7 165H (Meteor Lake) runs 16 cores from 1.4 to 5.0 GHz at a 28 W TDP, with 24 MB of cache. The 32 GB of LPDDR5/x is soldered to the board in dual channel, leaving room for virtual machines or several containers without an SO-DIMM to work loose. Intel Arc graphics handle hardware encode and decode of AV1, HEVC, VP9 and AVC and drive HDMI 1.4b, USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode and an internal dual-channel LVDS panel, for three displays.

Two 2.5GbE ports on Intel I226V keep a camera network apart from the plant network, and a GbE port on Intel I210AT supports out-of-band management. Six COM ports (two RS-232/422/485 and two RS-232 on DB9, two RS-232 on internal headers) and 8-bit DIO on COM4 connect to drives, scanners and light curtains. Five USB 3.2 Type-A ports, an M.2 M-key at PCIe Gen4 x4 for a fast NVMe recording drive, an M.2 B-key with nano SIM for 4G or 5G, an M.2 E-key for Wi-Fi and a SATA 3.0 port complete the I/O.

The MTH253-BN-32U7165H runs from 9 to 36 V DC on a 4-pin or barrel connector and operates from -5 to 65 °C with an active cooler for the 28 W processor, so it belongs in a ventilated cabinet. It carries CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance and a TPM 2.0. Where 16 GB is enough, MTH253-BN-16U5135H keeps a 28 W H-series processor with 14 cores, and MTH253-BN-16U5155U moves to a fanless 15 W build for sealed enclosures.
