DFI VC500-CMS-10G-Q Intel Comet Lake Rugged Embedded Computer with 2x 10GbE and Wide Temperature

Survey and mapping vehicles can generate more data than a GbE link moves comfortably. The VC500-CMS-10G-Q is the fiber build of the DFI VC500-CMS series, a rugged embedded computer with two 10G SFP+ ports, 10th Gen Intel Core processors, NVMe and swappable SSD storage and 9 to 50 V DC power.

DFI offers the Core i9-10900TE, i7-10700TE, i5-10500TE or i3-10100TE, all at 35 W on the Intel Q470E chipset. Memory is DDR4-2933 on two SO-DIMMs, up to 64 GB, and the M.2 2280 slot runs PCIe Gen3 x4 for an NVMe drive that can keep up with 10G capture. Intel UHD Graphics 630 drives HDMI and two DP++ outputs for three displays. It runs Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise or Ubuntu 20.04.

The two SFP+ cages run on an Intel X710-BM2 controller and take 10G fiber modules for cameras, lidar or uplinks. Two GbE ports on RJ45 (Intel I219LM and I210IT), four RS-232/422/485 and one RS-232 port on DB9, line-out, mic-in, line-in and three accessible SIM slots are standard. Eight USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports and 8-bit isolated DI and DO at 2 kV complete the panel, with two CAN ports and an OOB RJ45 port optional. Two swappable 2.5″ SATA bays with lock support RAID 0/1, an M.2 2280 slot (PCIe Gen3 x4) takes an NVMe boot drive, and M.2 B-key, M.2 E-key and mini PCIe slots take optional 5G, Wi-Fi or CAN modules, with dTPM 2.0 built in.

Power is 9 to 50 V DC with ignition and on/off delay management on a 3W3 connector, supplied with an adaptor cable. The VC500-CMS-10G-Q runs fanless from -20 °C to 70 °C (without turbo boost, DFI notes), is shock and vibration tested to MIL-STD-810G and wall mounts; DFI lists FCC, E-Mark (E24) compliance, CE, RoHS and UKCA.
