DFI VC500-CMS-POEM12-Q Intel Core i9/i7/i5/i3 10th Gen Rugged Embedded Computer with 4x M12 PoE

On a bus or patrol car, RJ45 plugs are often the first thing to work loose. The VC500-CMS-POEM12-Q answers that with four PoE ports on M12 X-coded connectors. It is the M12 build of the DFI VC500-CMS series, a rugged embedded computer with 10th Gen Intel Core processors, swappable SSDs and 9 to 50 V DC power.

DFI offers the Core i9-10900TE, i7-10700TE, i5-10500TE or i3-10100TE, all at 35 W on the Intel Q470E chipset. Memory is DDR4-2933 on two SO-DIMMs, up to 64 GB. Intel UHD Graphics 630 drives HDMI and two DP++ outputs at up to 4096×2304, for three independent displays, with hardware encode and decode of HEVC, H.264 and VP9 for recording work. It runs Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise or Ubuntu 20.04.

The four PoE ports support IEEE 802.3af at up to 15.4 W per port, which covers most fixed IP cameras. Two GbE ports on RJ45 (Intel I219LM and I210IT), four RS-232/422/485 and one RS-232 port on DB9, line-out, mic-in, line-in and three accessible SIM slots are standard. Eight USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports and 8-bit isolated DI and DO at 2 kV complete the panel, with two CAN ports and an OOB RJ45 port optional. Two swappable 2.5″ SATA bays with lock support RAID 0/1, an M.2 2280 slot (PCIe Gen3 x4) takes an NVMe boot drive, and M.2 B-key, M.2 E-key and mini PCIe slots take optional 5G, Wi-Fi or CAN modules, with dTPM 2.0 built in.

Power is 9 to 50 V DC with ignition and on/off delay management on a 3W3 connector, supplied with an adaptor cable. The VC500-CMS-POEM12-Q runs fanless from -20 °C to 70 °C (without turbo boost, DFI notes), is shock and vibration tested to MIL-STD-810G and wall mounts; DFI lists FCC, E-Mark (E24) compliance, CE, RoHS and UKCA. We supply it configured and tested, with memory, SSDs, the OS image and any wireless module fitted. The VC500-CMS-POE-Q has the same four PoE ports on RJ45, and the VC500-CMS-MXM-POE-Q adds an MXM GPU.
