DFI WL173-NE-8365UE Quad-Core Intel Core i5-8365UE Industrial Mini-ITX Motherboard with 9 to 36 V DC Input and -20 to 70 °C

Machine builders who sell into several markets often face a 24 V control supply in one plant and a 12 V supply in another. A board that accepts both avoids a second design or an extra converter. The WL173-NE-8365UE is the Core i5 build in the DFI WL173 series of industrial Mini-ITX motherboards, taking 9 to 36 V DC and rated from -20 to 70 °C.

The Intel Core i5-8365UE (Whiskey Lake) has four cores at 1.6 GHz, bursting to 4.1 GHz, with 6 MB of cache in a 15 W TDP. It suits an HMI with trending and recipe management, or a gateway running several protocol services. Two DDR4 2400 MHz SO-DIMM slots take up to 32 GB, and Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives three independent displays across two rear DP++ outputs and a dual-channel LVDS header at up to 1920 x 1200.

The two GbE ports use an Intel I219LM, with vPro and AMT for remote management, and an Intel I210AT. One RS-232/422/485 and one RS-232 port on internal headers and 8-bit DIO connect drives and sensors, while four rear USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports and four internal USB 2.0 headers handle peripherals. An M.2 M-key with PCIe x4 takes an NVMe SSD, two SATA 3.0 ports support RAID 0, 1 and 5, an M.2 E-key (2230) takes Wi-Fi and a PCIe x4 Gen3 slot takes an add-in card.

The WL173-NE-8365UE runs from 9 to 36 V DC on a barrel connector or 4-pin header and operates from -20 to 70 °C, with a discrete TPM 2.0. For heavier image or data work at the same rating, WL173-NE-8665UE steps up to the Core i7-8665UE. If the machine stays indoors and vPro isn’t needed, WL173-NB-4305UE uses the dual-core Celeron 4305UE at -5 to 65 °C.
