NISE 51 Overview

Most IoT gateway work is light on processing and heavy on connections: Modbus RTU devices on serial lines, Modbus TCP on the plant network and an upstream link over Ethernet or cellular. The NISE 51 is a Nexcom IoT Gateway sized for that, with a dual-core Intel Celeron N3350 in a fanless case 26 mm high. For more processing and a wider temperature range, the NISE 51-J3455 uses a quad-core Celeron J3455.

The Intel Celeron N3350 is an Apollo Lake processor at up to 2.4 GHz. One DDR3L 1866 SO-DIMM socket takes up to 8 GB, and onboard 16 GB eMMC holds a Linux image, with up to 32 GB by request. An optional M.2 Key B 2242 module adds storage, which Nexcom recommends when the NISE 51 runs Windows 10 IoT Enterprise.

The front panel carries two Intel I211-AT GbE ports with Wake on LAN, teaming and PXE, a DisplayPort output, two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, a SIM card holder and three antenna holes. On the rear, COM1 and COM2 are full RS232 and COM3 is RS422/485 with auto flow control, and there is a line-out and the DC input. A mini-PCIe socket takes Wi-Fi, 3.5G or 4G LTE, an M.2 Key A socket takes Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and an M.2 Key B 3042 socket takes LTE, with four GPI and four GPO inside the NISE 51.

This IoT Gateway runs from 12 V or 24 V DC at plus or minus 10 percent and is rated from -5 °C to 55 °C with airflow, with 50 G shock and 2 Grms vibration ratings. The metal fanless case measures 162 x 150 x 26 mm, and the unit carries CE and FCC Class A approval.
