Sintrones VDB-810G u-blox M8 GPS Mini PCIe Card with G-Sensor

Fleet operators often want to know how a vehicle was driven as well as where it went, and that means motion data alongside the position fix. The Sintrones VDB-810G is the G-sensor build of the VDB-810 series: a full-size Mini PCIe GPS card with a u-blox M8 receiver and a 3-axis accelerometer on the same card, so one slot can provide both. The VDB-810 is the same card without the G-sensor.

The u-blox M8 engine on the VDB-810G has 72 channels and receives GPS/QZSS, GLONASS and BeiDou concurrently, with SBAS. Sintrones quotes -167 dBm tracking and navigation sensitivity, -160 dBm acquisition and -148 dBm for an autonomous cold start, with a 26 s cold start, 2 s aided start and 1 s hot start. Horizontal accuracy is under 2.5 m CEP autonomous or 2.0 m CEP with SBAS, and the timepulse is accurate to 30 ns RMS.

The card connects over USB 2.0 as a Mini PCIe V1.2 full-mini card, with NMEA 0183 V4.0, UBX and RTCM 2.3 output at up to 10 Hz with GPS and GLONASS or 18 Hz with GPS alone. AssistNow Online and Offline A-GPS is supported and OMA SUPL compliant, and the receiver handles velocities under 500 m/s and accelerations up to 4 g, with intelligent multipath detection and suppression.

Power is 3.3 V DC ±10%, with 150 mA peak, 74 mA in acquisition and 43 mA when tracking in eco mode. The VDB-810G is rated from -40 °C to 85 °C, stores across the same range and measures 51 x 30 mm. It suits Sintrones computers with a free full-size Mini PCIe slot carrying USB 2.0, and we fit and test it in the host computer as part of the build, with the antenna cabling routed to the enclosure.
