Vecow PBC-1000 Intel Atom x6211E Elkhart Lake Wide-Temperature Fanless Embedded PC

Energy monitoring, building control and M2M gateways need a computer that sits quietly in a small cabinet for years, through winter nights and summer heat. The Vecow PBC-1000 is a wide-temperature embedded PC for that job, built on the Intel Atom x6211E in a fanless enclosure of 126.0 x 43.5 x 78.5 mm that weighs 0.5 kg.

The Intel Atom x6211E is an Elkhart Lake processor for low-power embedded use, and the PBC-1000 pairs it with one DDR4 3200 MHz SO-DIMM slot for up to 32 GB under Windows 10 or Linux. That is a good fit for data logging, protocol conversion, intelligent control and small HMI duties. Intel UHD Graphics drive one DisplayPort output at up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz.

Two Realtek RTL8119I GbE ports allow separate field and uplink networks, and one RS-232/422/485 port plus one RS-232 port connect meters and controllers. Two USB 3.0 ports handle peripherals, and audio offers mic-in and line-out. Storage covers one SATA III port and an M.2 Key B 2280 socket, which can also take 4G or 5G modules with the external SIM socket, while M.2 Key E adds Wi-Fi to the PBC-1000.

The PBC-1000 runs from a 12 V DC input through a 2-pin terminal block and operates fanless from -40°C to 70°C. Shock and vibration are tested to IEC 60068-2-27 and IEC 60068-2-64, and Vecow lists EN 50155 and EN 50121-3-2 EMC compliance. Wall mounting is standard, with a DIN rail kit available. For a quad-core Atom with four COM ports and 2.5GbE, the SPC-6000 is the step up.
