GMSL2 to Holoscan Sensor Bridge Overview
Machine vision cameras on robots, gantries and inspection rigs often sit far from the computer running the AI model, and a GMSL2 cable alone may not reach. The GMSL2 to Holoscan Sensor Bridge from Yuan is designed for that single-camera job. It converts one GMSL2 camera feed into Holoscan Sensor Bridge output over fiber, so an NVIDIA Holoscan pipeline can process it in real time. Typical uses include robot arms, gantry inspection and quality checks on production lines, depending on the camera chosen.
The input is one GMSL2 connection on a Fakra Z-code connector, supporting 1920 x 1080p at 60 or 30 fps. The output is one Holoscan Sensor Bridge channel over multi-mode fiber with an LC connector, carrying the camera video in its input format. Yuan specifies ultra-low latency for real-time processing, a modular and flexible pipeline design, and easy edge-to-cloud support alongside NVIDIA AI tools.
The GMSL2 to Holoscan Sensor Bridge is very small, plug and play, and runs from a 12V DC input. Where four cameras are grouped together, the 4×GMSL2 to Holoscan Sensor Bridge aggregates them into one SFP+ output. When the same pipeline also needs an HDMI or SDI source, the HDMI2.0 / 12G-SDI to Holoscan Sensor Bridge brings a 4K60 feed into Holoscan alongside the cameras.
In practice the bridge mounts beside the camera, with fiber running back to the Holoscan system, so the computer can sit in a cabinet or equipment room rather than on the moving machine. We supply it configured and tested with the camera, fiber and processing system it will connect to, so the full path is proven before installation.
