mPCIeSC542N1 MC SDI Overview
A small embedded PC that records an SDI camera often has nowhere to fit a PCIe card, and still needs smooth 60 fps capture. The SC542N1 MC SDI is Yuan’s Mini PCIe SDI frame grabber for that host, capturing one SDI feed at full frame rate and passing it on through a loop-through output.
The card captures SDI up to 1920 x 1080p at 60/50 fps, with HD-SDI at 1080p30/25/24, 1080i60/50 and 720p60/50, and SD-SDI at 720 x 480i and 720 x 576i. Capture and preview formats cover RGB24 and RGB32 at 4:4:4, YUY2 at 4:2:2, and YV12 and NV12 at 4:2:0, all at 8-bit. Audio comes from the SDI embedded channel or analog left and right inputs on a wafer connector, captured as stereo 16-bit at 32 to 48 kHz. On-board processing handles cropping and scaling, auto signal detection and deinterlacing. There is no built-in hardware encoder, so any encoding is left to the host software.
The card runs on a PCIe x1 link in a Mini PCIe socket. Software support runs through Yuan’s Windows and Linux SDK and standard DirectShow and V4L2 drivers, and Yuan names vMix, OBS, Zoom, Skype, Teams, Discord, Slack, Cisco Webex and GoToMeeting as compatible. The SC540N1 MC SDI is the same size with 1080p30 capture, and the SC542N1 MC HDV takes HDMI, DVI-I or YPbPr sources at 1080p60.
Operating system support covers Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10, Linux from kernel 2.6.14 in 32-bit and 64-bit builds, Linux on ARM, and NVIDIA Jetson TX2, Nano, AGX Xavier and Xavier NX modules. The board measures 30 x 50.95 mm. Yuan lists multi-device and multi-instance support, for hosts that run more than one card or capture session.
