Copper Ethernet stops at 100 m, so a machine or panel at the far end of a site, or one near heavy electrical plant, often needs a fiber link back to the network core. The LNX-0501-ST-S3-T is the single-mode ST, extended temperature build in the Antaira LNX-0501 series: an unmanaged industrial Ethernet switch with four copper Fast Ethernet ports and one fixed 100Base-FX fiber port, rated -40 °C to 75 °C.
The four 10/100Base-T(X) RJ45 ports support auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDI-X for local devices. The fiber port uses single-mode fiber (9/125 to 10/125 µm) with an ST connector at 1310 nm and reaches up to 30 km, and because the optic is built in, there is no SFP module to choose or fit. Switching is store-and-forward on a 1.0 Gbps fabric with a 2K MAC address table, IEEE 802.3x flow control and broadcast storm protection.
Power arrives on redundant 12 to 48 V DC inputs on a removable 6-pin terminal block, with reverse polarity protection and a slow-blow fuse, and the switch draws 6.5 W. Antaira rates surge protection to 2,000 V DC and ESD protection to 6,000 V DC. One relay output signals a power failure or port break, so a PLC or alarm panel can flag a cable fault before anyone notices lost data.
The LNX-0501-ST-S3-T sits in an IP30 metal case for DIN rail mounting, with wall mounting as an option and shock and vibration ratings to IEC 60068-2-27 and IEC 60068-2-6. Antaira lists it as UL Class 1 Division 2 certified, with UL 508, FCC, CE and RoHS marks, and covers it with Antaira’s 5-year warranty. The LNX-0501-ST-S3 is the same switch rated -10 °C to 70 °C, the LNX-0501-S3-T uses an SC connector, and the LNX-0501-ST-M-T carries multi-mode fiber up to 2 km.
