Arestech SB-5612-1A1 Intel Core i5-1235U Fanless Box PC with 4x COM and Dual 2.5GbE

Automation cabinets often still talk to their machines over serial, and a box PC with only one COM port pushes the integrator towards USB adapters that are easy to knock loose. The SB-5612-1A1 is the standard model in the Arestech SB-5612 series, a fanless box PC on the Intel Core i5-1235U with four RS-232/422/485 ports, two 2.5GbE ports and two HDMI outputs, for factory automation, automation machines and transport management. The SB-5612-1A2 is the same box PC with 16 isolated inputs and 16 isolated outputs.

The Core i5-1235U is a ten-core 12th Gen Intel processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics, a good fit for HMI software, data collection and light edge analytics. Dual-channel DDR4 3200 sits in two SO-DIMM sockets up to 64 GB, and firmware TPM (fTPM) is provided.

On the SB-5612-1A1, the four serial ports are each RS-232/422/485, and two Intel I226V 2.5GbE ports give room for a machine network and an uplink. Two HDMI outputs reach 4096 x 2160, and four USB 3.2 Gen2 and two USB 2.0 ports take scanners, cameras and keyboards. A four-in, four-out GPIO connector, line-out and mic-in complete the I/O, with a flexible I/O window for extra interfaces. Storage is an M.2 2280 M-Key slot with PCIe x4 or SATA III plus a removable 2.5″ SATA SSD tray, and a full-size mini-PCIe slot, an M.2 E-Key slot and a nano-SIM holder take optional 4G and Wi-Fi, with seven antenna holes.

Power is 9 to 36 V DC on a two-pin terminal block with AT and ATX modes, which suits 12 V and 24 V cabinet supplies. The SB-5612-1A1 runs fanless from -20 °C to 60 °C, is tested under IEC 60068 for vibration and shock, carries CE and FCC Class A marks and wall mounts. We supply it configured, with Windows 11 or Linux installed, and tested. Where the cabinet is tighter and the flexible I/O window is not needed, the BPC-3112-1A1 is a smaller box on the same processor with four COM and dual 2.5GbE.
