ASRock Industrial iEP-5020G-021 Quad-Core Intel Amston Lake Atom x7433RE Fanless Edge Gateway with PoE and -40 °C Operation

Where a cabinet needs to power a couple of network devices as well as run control software, a separate PoE switch adds wiring and takes up rail space. The ASRock Industrial iEP-5020G-021 is the PoE build of the iEP-5020G series, adding two IEEE 802.3af PoE ports to the base networking for five LAN ports in all, on a fanless edge gateway that clips to a DIN rail.

The Intel Atom x7433RE is a quad-core Amston Lake processor at 1.5 GHz and 9 W, which keeps heat low enough for a fanless design. One DDR5 4800 SO-DIMM takes up to 16 GB with Intel In-Band ECC, and an M.2 2280 Key M slot on PCIe Gen3 x2 takes an NVMe SSD, with a Micro SD slot alongside. TPM 2.0, a watchdog timer and Intel In-Band Manageability are built in, and Windows 11 and Linux are supported.

The two PoE ports run on Intel I210-AT controllers at up to 15.4 W per port, next to two Intel I210-IT Gigabit ports and an Intel I226-IT 2.5GbE port with TSN and Intel TCC on LAN1 under Ubuntu. Two RS-232/422/485 ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, one USB 2.0, a USB-C port that also carries DisplayPort, a DisplayPort 1.4a output and audio complete the I/O. An M.2 Key E slot takes an optional Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 module; this build has no cellular slot.

Power is 19 to 36 V DC on two 3-pin terminal blocks, with OVP, UVP, OCP and 80 V surge protection. The iEP-5020G-021 is rated from -40 °C to 50 °C with airflow, is tested to 100 G shock and 5 Grms vibration and carries CE and FCC Class A marks. We supply it configured and tested, with memory, NVMe storage, the OS image and any Wi-Fi module fitted. The iEP-5020G-022 keeps five LAN ports without PoE on a 6 to 36 V DC input, and the iEP-5020G-020 pairs three LAN ports with a 4G or 5G slot.
