Axiomtek UST200-83H-FL-E3930-COM-TVDC Intel Atom x5-E3930 Apollo Lake Rugged In-Vehicle Computer with RS-232/422/485 COM

Plenty of vehicle equipment still talks over a serial line: ticket machines, card validators, fuel and tyre monitors, older telematics units. A gateway for those vehicles needs a proper RS-232/422/485 port more than a CAN interface. The UST200-83H-FL-E3930-COM-TVDC is the serial build of the Axiomtek UST200-83H-FL series, a rugged in-vehicle computer with a DB9 serial port in place of CAN.

The Intel Atom x5-E3930 is a dual-core Apollo Lake processor at 1.3 GHz with a 6.5 W TDP, enough for protocol conversion, logging, a local web interface and LTE forwarding without a fan. One DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM slot takes up to 8GB, TPM 2.0 is on board, and the rugged in-vehicle computer supports Windows 10 64-bit and Linux.

The DB9 serial port works as a console or as RS-232/422/485, chosen to suit the device on the other end. Alongside it are two Intel I210-AT GbE ports, a VGA output up to 1920 x 1200, two USB 2.0 ports and a DB9 8-bit programmable DIO for door, light or alarm signals. A full-size Mini Card slot with SIM socket takes an LTE module, and the UST200-83H-FL-E3930-COM-TVDC stores data on a half-size mSATA drive.

Power is 12 or 24 V DC on a terminal block with smart ignition, which handles ignition-on and ignition-off delays and shuts down before the battery runs low. The UST200-83H-FL-E3930-COM-TVDC runs fanless from -40 to 70 °C, is E-Mark certified and is MIL-STD-810G vibration compliant, in a 31 mm wide DIN-rail housing at 0.3 kg. For vehicle networks, the UST200-83H-FL-E3930-CAN-TVDC swaps the serial port for CAN 2.0 A/B.
