DFI AL173-CB-N4200 Intel Pentium N4200 Mini-ITX Mainboard with 15 to 36 V DC Input and Dual GbE

Machine builders who standardize on 24 V DC for PLCs, sensors and valves often want the operator PC on the same rail. The AL173-CB-N4200 is the Pentium build in the DFI AL173 series of Mini-ITX mainboards, taking a 15 to 36 V DC input directly and rated from 0 to 60 °C for indoor machines.

Its Intel Pentium N4200 (Apollo Lake) has four cores at 1.1 GHz and bursts to 2.5 GHz, the highest burst clock in the series, within a 6 W TDP. That gives a responsive HMI with little heat inside the machine enclosure. Two DDR3L 1866 MHz SO-DIMM slots take up to 8 GB. Intel HD Graphics offers VGA, DP++ at up to 4K 60 Hz, dual-channel LVDS and eDP connectors, driving three independent displays at once.

Two GbE ports on Intel I211AT and I210AT controllers connect the machine network and the plant network. Six COM ports on internal headers (two RS-232/422/485, four RS-232) and 8-bit DIO reach drives, barcode readers and stack lights. Four rear USB 3.0 ports and five internal USB 2.0 connections cover touch and peripherals. Two SATA 3.0 ports, an M.2 B-key (2242/2280) for an SSD or cellular module, full-size Mini PCIe and a PCIe x1 Gen2 slot complete the expansion.

The AL173-CB-N4200 runs from 15 to 36 V DC on a barrel connector or 4-pin header, operates from 0 to 60 °C on a fanless heatsink and carries CE, FCC, RoHS and UL compliance. If the machine is installed outdoors or in a vehicle, AL173-CT-E3950 brings a quad-core Atom with a -40 to 85 °C rating. For the lowest heat at that rating, AL173-CT-E3930 uses a dual-core 6.5 W Atom.
