DFI ASL171-CT-x7213RE Intel Amston Lake Atom x7213RE Mini-ITX Mainboard with Dual 2.5GbE and -40 to 85 °C

Many control tasks are single-threaded at heart: a scan loop, a serial protocol handler or a barcode station that waits on one device at a time. For those, clock speed matters more than core count. The ASL171-CT-x7213RE is the dual-core build in the DFI ASL171 series of Mini-ITX mainboards with the highest base clock in the range, and the only Atom build with four rear USB 3.2 ports.

Its Intel Atom x7213RE (Amston Lake) runs two cores at 2.0 to 3.4 GHz within a 9 W TDP. Memory is one DDR5 4800 MHz SO-DIMM of up to 16 GB. Intel UHD Graphics drives a DP++ output at up to 4K 60 Hz and an HDMI 2.0 output, which suits a local operator screen or a signage display without adapters.

Four rear USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports take USB cameras, scanners or a license dongle, with four USB 2.0 headers inside for touch controllers and front-panel ports. Two 2.5GbE ports on Intel I226IT controllers, six COM ports (two RS-232/422/485, four RS-232) and 8-bit DIO cover the network and field wiring. The M.2 B-key with Nano SIM, M.2 E-key, PCIe x4 slot and two SATA ports handle cellular, Wi-Fi, a capture card and drives.

The ASL171-CT-x7213RE takes 12 V DC on a barrel connector or 4-pin header, runs from -40 to 85 °C fanless and carries CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance. If the controller has to stay under 6 W, ASL171-CT-x7211RE is the lower-power dual-core build. The ASL171-CB-N150 keeps the DP, HDMI and four USB 3.2 layout with four cores for standard-temperature sites.
