DFI ASL173-CT-x7835RE Intel Atom x7835RE Mini-ITX SBC with 9 to 36 V DC Input and -40 to 85 °C

The ASL173-CT-x7835RE is the eight-core build in the DFI ASL173 series of Mini-ITX SBCs, pairing the 12 W Intel Atom x7835RE with a 9 to 36 V DC input, VGA, DP and USB-C outputs and -40 to 85 °C operation. It suits vehicle video, multi-task gateways and 24 V cabinets.

ASL173-CT-x7835RE Overview

Vehicle and mobile systems ask a lot of one board: record camera feeds, log telematics, talk to a cellular network and run a driver display, all from a battery that swings well away from its nominal voltage. The ASL173-CT-x7835RE is the eight-core build in the DFI ASL173 series of Mini-ITX SBCs, combining the most processing in the range with a 9 to 36 V DC input.

The Intel Atom x7835RE (Amston Lake) has eight cores at 1.3 to 3.6 GHz within a 12 W TDP, so recording, analytics and communications can each have cores of their own. Memory is one DDR5 4800 MHz SO-DIMM of up to 16 GB. Intel UHD Graphics decodes HEVC, VP9, AV1 and AVC in hardware and drives a VGA output, a DP++ output at up to 4K 60 Hz and a USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode.

Two 2.5GbE ports on Intel I226IT controllers suit an IP camera network and an uplink. Three rear USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, four internal USB 2.0 headers, six COM ports (two RS-232/422/485, four RS-232) and 8-bit DIO handle GPS receivers, USB peripherals and door or alarm signals. The M.2 B-key with Nano SIM takes a cellular modem, the M.2 E-key takes Wi-Fi, and a PCIe x4 slot and two SATA ports take a capture card and recording drives.

The ASL173-CT-x7835RE runs from 9 to 36 V DC on a 4-pin connector or barrel connector and operates from -40 to 85 °C fanless, with CE, FCC, UKCA and RoHS compliance. Where the load is lighter, ASL173-CT-x7433RE runs four cores at 9 W with two DP outputs, and ASL173-CT-x7211RE keeps USB-C display at 6 W for battery-sensitive installs.
