DFI ASL253-x7433RE Quad-Core Intel Atom x7433RE 4″ x86 SBC with 9 to 36 V DC Input and -40 to 80 °C

Many serial-heavy devices have one job: an operator panel on a filling machine, a converter between a legacy RS-485 network and Ethernet, or a controller in an outdoor kiosk. For those, four cores are plenty and the I/O matters more. The ASL253-x7433RE is the quad-core build in the DFI ASL253 series of 4″ x86 SBCs, with the same six COM ports, triple LAN and temperature rating as the eight-core ASL253-x7835RE.

Its Intel Atom x7433RE (Amston Lake) runs four cores at 1.5 to 3.4 GHz. Memory is 16 GB of LPDDR5-4800 soldered to the board, which leaves room for an HMI runtime, a local database and remote access. Intel UHD Graphics drives an HDMI 1.4b output and an internal eDP or dual-channel LVDS connector, so a panel can be wired directly to the board without a converter, and DFI lists quad display support.

The six COM ports are two RS-232/422/485 and two RS-232 on DB9 connectors, plus two RS-232 on internal headers, and 8-bit DIO can be selected in BIOS in place of COM4. Two 2.5GbE ports on Intel I226 and one GbE port on Intel I210 separate the machine network from the uplink. Three USB 3.2 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Type-C port and a USB 2.0 header take touch controllers and service tools, and the M.2 M-key, E-key and B-key with SIM take an SSD, Wi-Fi and cellular.

The ASL253-x7433RE takes 9 to 36 V DC on a barrel connector or 4-pin header and operates from -40 to 80 °C with 0.2 m/s airflow over its heatsink. It carries CE and FCC compliance, a TPM 2.0, and support for Windows 11 IoT Enterprise and Ubuntu 22.04. If the device takes on more services later, ASL253-x7835RE doubles the core count.
