DFI CMS103-W480IB Intel Xeon W and 10th Gen Core Thin Mini-ITX SBC with W480E Chipset, Triple LAN and 15 to 36 V DC Input

Test and measurement systems and cabinet controllers are sometimes standardized on Xeon processors across a whole site, so that one software image and one qualification covers every unit. When the unit also sits on a 24 V rail, the choice of board narrows quickly. The CMS103-W480IB is the W480E build in the DFI CMS103 series of Thin Mini-ITX SBCs, and the only CMS103 board that takes Intel Xeon W processors.

The LGA1200 socket accepts Intel Xeon W-1290TE, W-1270TE and W-1250TE processors at 35 W, with ten, eight and six cores, and 10th Gen Intel Core i9, i7, i5 and i3 processors in E and TE versions. The 35 W parts suit a sealed cabinet with limited airflow. Two DDR4 2933 MHz SO-DIMMs hold up to 64 GB, and Intel UHD Graphics handles HEVC and VP9 in hardware across two rear DP++ ports and internal LVDS and eDP, three displays at once.

Three RJ45 ports carry 2.5GbE on Intel I225LM and GbE on the I219LM and I210AT, with Intel vPro and AMT on the I219LM when a vPro-capable processor is fitted. Four rear USB 3.2 Gen 2 and four internal USB 2.0 ports connect instruments and storage. Two RS-232/422/485 ports, two RS-232 ports and 8-bit DIO sit on internal headers. The M.2 M-key takes NVMe at PCIe Gen3 x4 or SATA, the B-key a cellular module, the E-key Wi-Fi, and RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 covers the M.2 and two SATA 3.0 drives. A PCIe x16 Gen3 slot takes a measurement or network card.

The CMS103-W480IB runs from 15 to 36 V DC on a DC jack or 4-pin connector and operates from -5 to 65 °C, with CE, FCC, UKCA, UL, CB and RoHS compliance. CMS103-Q470IB offers the same I/O for Core, Pentium and Celeron processors, and CMS103-H420IB drops vPro and RAID for simpler machines.
