DFI CS631 Intel Xeon E and Coffee Lake Core ATX Embedded Motherboards with C246 or Q370 Chipset
The DFI CS631 series is a family of ATX embedded motherboards for LGA1151 processors, covering 8th and 9th Gen Intel Core (Coffee Lake), Pentium and Celeron, plus Xeon E on the C246 build. Each board has seven expansion slots, six of them PCIe Gen3, two Mini PCIe slots, M.2 NVMe, six COM ports and triple displays. The CS631 series suits vision systems, test stations and multi-card control PCs.
- Seven Expansion Slots: Two PCIe x16 slots running as one x16 or two x8, three PCIe x4, one PCIe x1 and one PCI slot.
- LGA1151 Coffee Lake Socket: 8th and 9th Gen Core i3, i5 and i7, Pentium and Celeron, with Xeon E on the C246 build.
- Two Mini PCIe and M.2 NVMe: Two full-size Mini PCIe slots, an M.2 PCIe x2 Gen3 NVMe socket and five SATA ports with RAID.
- Six COM with ESD Protection: Two RS-232/422/485 and four RS-232 ports with ±15 kV air-gap ESD protection, plus 8-bit digital I/O.
- Triple Displays and Intel AMT: VGA and two DP++ outputs drive three screens, and Intel AMT on the I219LM port supports remote management.

CS631 Description
Some systems simply need a lot of cards: a GPU, two frame grabbers, a motion controller and a fieldbus interface in one chassis. The DFI CS631 series is an ATX embedded motherboard on a 305 x 244 mm footprint with seven expansion slots, two PCIe x16 slots that run as one x16 or two x8, three PCIe x4 Gen3 slots, a PCIe x1 Gen3 slot and a PCI slot, on an LGA1151 socket for 8th and 9th Gen Intel Core processors.
The socket takes Core i7-8700, i5-8500 and i3-8100 in 65 W and 35 W T versions, the 9th Gen embedded Core i7-9700TE, i5-9500E, i5-9500TE, i3-9100E and i3-9100TE, plus dual-core Pentium G5400 and Celeron G4900. Four DDR4 2666 MHz DIMM slots take up to 128 GB. Intel UHD Graphics drives VGA and two DP++ outputs, with 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz on DisplayPort, as three independent displays, and Intel AMT runs on the I219LM port. DFI lists Windows 10 IoT Enterprise and Linux support.
The CS631-C246CRM uses the Intel C246 chipset, which adds Xeon E-2124G, E-2176G, E-2226GE and E-2278GEL processors up to 80 W, with ECC memory on Xeon E, Core i3, Pentium and Celeron. The CS631-Q370CRM uses the Q370 chipset with Core, Pentium and Celeron and non-ECC memory, for multi-card systems where Xeon and ECC are not part of the specification. Slots, storage and I/O are the same on both.
Storage covers an M.2 M-key socket for PCIe x2 Gen3 NVMe SSDs up to 2280 and five SATA 3.0 ports with RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10, and two full-size Mini PCIe slots take Wi-Fi, mSATA or other modules. Six COM ports, two RS-232/422/485 and four RS-232, carry ±15 kV air-gap ESD protection, with 8-bit digital I/O. The rear panel has two USB 3.1 Gen 2, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 and two USB 2.0 Type-A ports and two GbE ports on Intel I219LM and I210AT controllers.
Power comes from a standard ATX supply over 24-pin and 8-pin connectors, and an active CPU cooler keeps the boards within 0 to 60 °C in indoor cabinets, racks and test stations. A watchdog timer programmable from 1 to 255 seconds supports unattended operation, TPM is available as an ordering option, and the CS631 series carries CE, FCC and RoHS compliance.
