DFI EC90A-GH-R1606G-COM AMD Ryzen Embedded R1606G Ultra-Compact Industrial PC with 2x COM and 32GB eMMC

Plenty of plant equipment still talks RS-232: weighing scales, barcode readers, older PLCs and meters. The EC90A-GH-R1606G-COM is the AMD Ryzen Embedded R1606G build of the DFI EC90A-GH series with two RS-232 ports on its combo port and 32 GB of eMMC, in a fanless ultra-compact industrial PC that can sit beside the equipment it reads.

The Ryzen Embedded R1606G is a dual-core processor at 2.6 GHz with a boost of up to 3.5 GHz, rated at 12 W, on the DFI GHF51-BN board from the GHF51 series. Its AMD Vega graphics with three compute units handle H.265 encode and decode and VP9 decode, which suits signage and camera review. Memory is 4 GB of DDR4-2400 soldered down, storage is 32 GB of eMMC, and fTPM 2.0 and a watchdog timer are built in. DFI lists Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, and the system is Ubuntu-certified IoT hardware.

The front carries two micro HDMI 1.4 ports at up to 4096 x 2160 at 24 Hz, one USB 3.1 Type-C port and one GbE port on an Intel I211AT controller. The rear combo port carries two RS-232 ports for scales, readers and controllers. A full-size Mini PCIe slot (PCIe Gen 2 or USB 2.0) is free for an expansion module, though antenna openings are not available alongside the two RS-232 ports.

Power is 12 V DC on a locking DC jack, which keeps the lead in place on a vibrating machine or a busy kiosk. The EC90A-GH-R1606G-COM runs fanless from -20 °C to 45 °C, with storage from -40 °C to 85 °C, and mounts on a wall or a VESA bracket. DFI lists CE, FCC and UKCA. The EC90A-GH-R1606G-DIO has 8-bit DIO in place of the serial ports, and the EC90A-GH-R1505G carries the R1505G with two RS-232 ports and 64 GB of eMMC.
