DFI EC90A-GH AMD Ryzen Embedded R1000 Ultra-Compact Industrial PCs with DIO or RS-232 and Optional LTE

Not every edge job needs a full box PC: a kiosk controller, a serial gateway or a signage loop often fits a computer small enough to hide behind the equipment it serves. The DFI EC90A-GH series is a family of fanless ultra-compact industrial PCs for those jobs, with AMD Ryzen Embedded R1000 processors on the DFI GHF51 series board and a combo port that carries either digital I/O or serial. Soldered memory and eMMC keep the build simple, and the processors draw between 6 W and 12 W, so heat is rarely a concern in a closed kiosk or cabinet.

Every EC90A-GH has a dual-core Ryzen Embedded processor with AMD Vega graphics, 4 GB of DDR4-2400 soldered down and eMMC storage, so there is no drive to fit or shake loose. Two micro HDMI 1.4 ports run at up to 4096 x 2160 at 24 Hz, and the front adds one USB 3.1 Type-C port and one GbE port on an Intel I211AT. A full-size Mini PCIe slot takes an optional Wi-Fi or LTE module, and fTPM 2.0 and a watchdog timer are built in. DFI lists Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, and the systems are Ubuntu-certified IoT hardware.

The R1606G builds lead the range. The EC90A-GH-R1606G-DIO has 8-bit DIO with SMBus and 32 GB of eMMC, the EC90A-GH-R1606G-EN-DIO moves to the GHF51-EN board with 64 GB, the EC90A-GH-R1606G-EN-DIO-LTE adds a fitted LTE module with two SMA antennas, and the EC90A-GH-R1606G-COM has two RS-232 ports with 32 GB. Three RS-232 builds with 64 GB of eMMC, all on the GHF51-BN board, cover lower power and longer runs between updates: the EC90A-GH-R1505G at 12 W, the EC90A-GH-R1305G at 8 to 10 W and the EC90A-GH-R1102G at 6 W.

In practice the EC90A-GH series suits kiosks, small signage players, serial data collection, remote sites on LTE and add-on computers for existing machines. Power is 12 V DC on a locking DC jack, and every build runs fanless from -20 °C to 45 °C, with storage from -40 °C to 85 °C. The ultra-compact industrial PCs mount on a wall or a VESA bracket, and DFI lists CE, FCC and UKCA. A Wi-Fi and Bluetooth kit with antenna is listed as an option for the builds with antenna openings.
