DFI RC300-CS Intel 9th Gen Core Railway Computers with 4x M12 PoE and MXM GPU or UPS Options

Train-borne video and passenger systems have to accept the train’s supply, keep recording through vibration and changeovers, and let depot staff swap storage quickly. The DFI RC300-CS series is a family of fanless railway computers built for that, designed to EN 50155 requirements, on DFI’s CST51-Q370T board with the Intel Core i7-9700TE.

Every RC300-CS build shares the same core. The i7-9700TE has eight cores at 1.8 GHz at 35 W on the Q370 chipset, memory is DDR4 SO-DIMM up to 64 GB, and display outputs are VGA, HDMI and DP++. Networking is two GbE ports on RJ45 plus four M12 X-coded ports with 802.3af PoE at 15.4 W, with Intel AMT on the I219LM. I/O adds two RS-232/422/485 ports, 8-bit isolated DI and DO at 2 kV and six USB ports, with Mini PCIe and M.2 slots for Wi-Fi, LTE and 5G, three SIM sockets and seven antenna holes. Windows 10 IoT Enterprise and Ubuntu 18.04 are supported, as DFI states for this generation. Storage and PoE status LEDs on the panel help depot staff check the unit at a glance.

The RC300H-CS111 and RC300H-CS122 run on 110 V DC with an NVIDIA RTX 3000 MXM GPU fitted and four swappable SSD bays, with 2 x 8 GB or 2 x 16 GB of memory. The RC300H-CS-UPS adds a UPS battery kit in place of two bays, holding the system up for at least five minutes at up to 300 W. The RC300L-CS runs on 9 to 36 V DC with two bays and no MXM module, for recorders that don’t need a GPU.

In practice the RC300-CS series suits onboard CCTV recording, AI video analytics, passenger counting and information systems, and trackside or depot equipment. The MXM slot takes Type A, B or C modules up to 115 W without an active fan, with the T1000, RTX A500, A1000, A2000 and A4500 also listed. Shock and vibration are tested to EN 61373 Category 1, EMC to EN 50121-3-2 and fire protection to EN 45545, and the RC300-CS runs from -25 °C to 70 °C with CPU and GPU under 100 W combined. Above that, the rating is -25 °C to 55 °C up to 160 W, and turbo boost is disabled at high temperature to manage heat.
