X6-ORN-GMSL-NN8-PoE Overview
Vision systems on robots and vehicles often need two kinds of camera: GMSL2 units close to the computer and IP cameras further out. The DFI X6-ORN-GMSL-NN8-PoE takes both, with two GMSL2 inputs and two GbE ports that supply up to 15 W of PoE each. It is the Orin Nano 8GB PoE machine vision computer in the X6-ORN-GMSL series, with the full 1024-core GPU at Orin Nano power.
The NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano 8GB module combines a 64-bit Arm Cortex-A78AE CPU with a 1024-core NVIDIA Ampere GPU with 32 Tensor Cores rated at 40 TOPS and 8 GB of 128-bit LPDDR5 at 68 GB/s, running at 7 to 15 W module power. That suits detection and classification at a modest power budget, and the X6-ORN-GMSL-NN8-PoE runs Ubuntu 22.04 with a watchdog timer built into the Jetson module. An M.2 2242/2280 M-key slot on PCIe x4 takes an NVMe SSD for models, logs and recorded video.
The two GMSL2 inputs use FAKRA Z-code connectors and handle one 4K camera at 30 fps or two cameras at 1080p or 720p and 60 fps. Four RJ45 GbE ports run from Intel i210 controllers, two of them with 15 W PoE, beside four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, HDMI, a DB-9 with RS-232 and CAN bus, a DB-9 with four digital inputs and four outputs, and mic-in and line-out. An M.2 E-key 2230 slot takes Wi-Fi 6E and an M.2 B-key slot takes 5G or LTE with a nano SIM.
The machine vision computer is fanless, takes 9 to 36 V DC on a terminal block and runs from -20 to 60 °C. DFI tests it to IEC 60068-2-27 for shock and IEC 60068-2-64 for vibration, and it carries CE, FCC Class A and RoHS. At about 165 x 65 x 150 mm and 1.98 kg it mounts on a wall with the supplied brackets, or on DIN rail with the optional kit. The X6-ORN-GMSL-NN8 is the same machine vision computer without PoE, and the X6-ORN-GMSL-NN4-PoE moves to the Orin Nano 4GB module.

Official DFI USA Distributor
Things Embedded is an official DFI USA distributor, covering DFI's range from industrial motherboards to fanless Jetson and Intel embedded systems. The X6-ORN is the same Jetson Orin NX and Orin Nano design without the GMSL2 inputs, the X6X-ORN moves the modules into an IP67 enclosure with M12 connectors and two GMSL2 inputs, and the X6a-AGX steps up to Jetson AGX Orin with a 10GbE port and up to eight GMSL2 cameras.
For other ways to deploy a Jetson module, compare our Jetson Orin Nano computers and NVIDIA Jetson PoE computers. DFI also builds the RC300-CS for rolling stock where an Intel CPU and an MXM GPU fit better.
