DFI X6-ORN-NX8 NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 8GB Fanless Edge AI Box PC with 4x GbE LAN

Where cameras, sensors and controllers already have their own supply, the simplest edge AI box PC is the one that just runs the model. The DFI X6-ORN-NX8 does that with four GbE ports, four USB 3.2 ports and the CAN bus and digital I/O that machines use. It is the Orin NX 8GB edge AI box PC in the X6-ORN series, with Orin NX memory bandwidth at the 8 GB size.

The NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 8GB module combines a 64-bit Arm Cortex-A78AE CPU with a 1024-core NVIDIA Ampere GPU with 32 Tensor Cores and 8 GB of 128-bit LPDDR5 at 102.4 GB/s, running at 10 to 20 W module power. That suits a production model that needs bandwidth more than memory size, and the X6-ORN-NX8 runs Ubuntu 22.04 with a watchdog timer built into the Jetson module. An M.2 2242/2280 M-key slot on PCIe x4 takes an NVMe SSD for models, logs and recorded video.

Four RJ45 GbE ports run from separate Intel i210 controllers. Alongside sit four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a micro USB port for OS flashing, HDMI, a DB-9 combining RS-232 and CAN bus, a second DB-9 with four digital inputs and four outputs, and mic-in and line-out. An M.2 E-key 2230 slot takes Wi-Fi 6E, an M.2 B-key 3042/3052 slot takes 5G or LTE with a nano SIM, and six antenna holes are provided. Out-of-band (OOB) management is optional.

The edge AI box PC is fanless, takes 9 to 36 V DC on a terminal block and runs from -20 to 60 °C. DFI tests it to IEC 60068-2-27 for shock and IEC 60068-2-64 for vibration, and it carries CE, FCC Class A and RoHS. At about 165 x 65 x 150 mm and 1.98 kg it mounts on a wall with the supplied brackets, or on DIN rail with the optional kit. The X6-ORN-NX8-PoE is the same edge AI box PC with two PoE ports, and the X6-ORN-NN8 moves to the Orin Nano 8GB module.
