Diamond Systems DMM-16RP-AT PC/104-Plus 16-Bit Analog I/O Module with Autocalibration

The DMM-16RP-AT is Diamond Systems' 16-channel PC/104-Plus analog I/O board with 16-bit inputs at up to 100 kHz, four 12-bit outputs and 16 digital I/O lines, plus a dual bus interface that picks PCI when present and falls back to ISA. It suits PC/104-Plus stacks and mixed PCI or ISA systems.

  • Dual PCI and ISA Bus: Both connectors are fitted; the board selects 3.3 V PCI automatically, and a jumper forces 5 V ISA mode where needed.
  • 16 Inputs at 100 kHz: 16 single-ended or eight differential 16-bit inputs with programmable gain, seven ranges and a 512-sample FIFO.
  • Multi-Range Autocalibration: Precision on-board references calibrate every input range individually, and the analog outputs are fed back for range calibration.
  • 4x 12-Bit Analog Outputs: Four 12-bit outputs with fixed ±5 V and 0-5 V ranges, or a software-set range up to 10 V in 1 mV steps.
  • 3.3 V or 5 V Digital I/O: 16 digital lines in two 8-bit ports with selectable logic level, plus 32-bit and 16-bit counter/timers on a 10 MHz clock.

DMM-16RP-AT Overview

PC/104 fleets often mix hosts with PCI and ISA buses, and an I/O board that works with only one of them limits reuse. The DMM-16RP-AT is Diamond Systems’ 16-channel PC/104-Plus analog I/O board with a dual bus interface: both PCI and ISA connectors run to the FPGA, the board selects PCI automatically when present, and a jumper forces ISA mode.

The inputs are 16-bit, set as 16 single-ended or eight differential, with gains of 1, 2, 4 and 8 and unipolar or bipolar operation for seven ranges from ±10 V to ±0.625 V. Sampling reaches 100 kHz in total, in single-channel or scan mode, triggered by software, the on-board timer or an external signal. A 512-sample FIFO with a 256-sample interrupt threshold cuts the interrupt rate, and multi-range autocalibration calibrates every input range against on-board precision references.

Four 12-bit outputs offer fixed ±5 V and 0-5 V ranges or a programmable range anywhere up to 10 V in 1 mV steps, updated individually or together. Digital I/O provides 16 lines in two 8-bit ports with jumper-selectable 3.3 V or 5 V logic and 10 kΩ pull resistors, plus 32-bit and 16-bit counter/timers on a 10 MHz clock. The DMM-16R-AT is the ISA-only version, and the RMM-1616AP-XT adds 16 analog outputs on PC/104-Plus.

The DMM-16RP-AT uses 3.3 V signaling on PCI, so it must sit on a 3.3 V PCI host; the ISA side uses standard 5 V levels. It runs from +5 V at 375 mA typical and is tested and guaranteed from -40 to +85 °C, with ±35 V input protection. The Universal Driver supports Windows and Linux, with a Control Panel program for prototyping and diagnostics.

Official Diamond Systems USA Distributor

Things Embedded is an official Diamond Systems USA distributor, supplying the DMM-16RP-AT as Diamond builds it and specifying it for USA PC/104-Plus control and measurement systems. It stacks on a PC/104-Plus ARIES SBC with 3.3 V PCI, and the JUPITER-MM-5000 supplies power on the same bus.

The DMM-16RP-AT belongs with our data acquisition and I/O modules, our PC/104 I/O modules and our analog I/O boards. Where a PC/104-Plus stack needs 16 calibrated inputs and the option to run on ISA, this is the model to specify.
